2010 COMMUNITY LENTEN SERVICES
The annual series of Community Lenten Services will begin Ash Wednesday, February 17th. Services will be held at noon every Wednesday during the seven weeks of Lent prior to Easter Sunday.
This interdenominational community-wide event is in observance of Lent, traditionally a period of spiritual discipline for Christians in preparation for Easter.
Each week a different speaker will deliver the message. Musicians in the community will provide music. A light lunch will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. each Wednesday and will be served after the service as well. A nursery will be provided.
Everyone is welcome!

CHURCHYARD SPRING CLEANUP DAY
Saturday, March 20th
8:30 a.m. - Noon
Whether you're a master gardener or still learning which end of a rake to use, we can use your help!
We need people for raking, pruning, sweeping, spreading mulch, planting, and more. Bring your tools, including wheelbarrows and garden carts.
In case of bad weather, we'll move to March 27th.
Come help us prepare for Spring! Questions? Contact Doug Roszel.
CHURCH DAY OF CARE
Saturday, March 27th
If you need a yard raked, a room painted, or some sort of small work done around your house, call the church and let us care about you. If you want to help out one of your fellow church members, call Joyce Golding.
We will meet at the church at 8:00 a.m. for last minute directions and a small breakfast. If you don't think that you are up to manual labor, there are closets that need to be cleaned out at the church. Come help and have some fun!
If it rains that day, we will be doing the outside work on April 10th.
HOLY WEEK AT FPC
Sunday, March 28th - Palm Sunday
9:00 a.m., Contemporary Service of joy and praise - welcoming Jesus as the Messiah - both to Jerusalem in the 1st Century and into our lives in the 21st Century.
11:00 a.m., Traditional Service beginning with a procession into the Sanctuary waving palm branches and singing, "All Glory, Laud and Honor."
Thursday, April 1st - Maundy Thursday
7:30 p.m., Service of the Shadows. Traditionally known as the Tenebrae, this meditative and reflective service will include scripture, song, and anthem, as well as the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. Participants will trace Jesus' journey from the time of His triumphal entry into Jerusalem through the Last Supper, betrayal, and arrest. The service will end in darkness as we depart in silence.
Friday, April 2nd - Good Friday
12:00 noon, Service in the Sanctuary. On the darkest day of the year for Christians, this service beholds the death of our Lord on the cross.
Sunday, April 4th - Easter Sunday
This season of Easter is a special time for Christians to celebrate the ultimate reason for our hope: Christ is risen, and invites us to rise with Him to new life.
The Church Office will be closed Monday, April 5th, in observance of Good Friday.
2ND ANNUAL SCRAMBLED EGG HUNT
The Pre-K and Elementary children will be hunting Easter eggs during the Sunday School hour, Sunday, April 11th.
Please note that this is the week after Easter, allowing us to keep the focus of Easter on the Resurrection.
BUILDING BRIDGES
Who knew it could be so hard to pick a name? Then again, I guess it's not that different than naming a child. The choice of a name speaks of separate histories joining in a shared future - a future filled with a lot of hopes and dreams, and certainly a task not to be taken lightly.
So, Bartlesville's poverty alleviation initiative, Building Bridges, will officially begin on April 22nd. FPC will be alive with activity on Thursday evenings, beinning with dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by classes, meetings, and programs.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Andy, Kristy, or Bud Sexson.
