Prayer is the thread that
helps hold our world together. In that spirit, First Church prays. Over the past
few years, we have intentionally been learning what it means to be a “House of Prayer.” In
the gospel stories, Jesus prayed a lot and in different ways. He prayed out loud,
in silence, in anger, in groups, in isolation, and in many other forms. Through
prayer, not only as a church, but also individually, we at First
Church are always looking to deepen the relationships we share with God and each
other. Come pray with us!
Don’t forget to call our Prayer Telephone, 336-8800,
where you will hear a different devotion every day. Then you are invited to record
your prayer requests, which are heard quickly by church members who pray throughout
the week. The prayer chain responds immediately when called. Simply leave a prayer request on our prayer line and your prayer will bounce from phone to phone.

Adjacent to the Chapel, the prayer room offers a safe place to come and seek the presence of God in the solace of quiet reflection. Anyone is welcome to use this space to enhance their own prayer life.

In those days he went out to the mountain to pray; and all night he continued in prayer to God.
